What’s the difference between a 2D photo and a 3D photo?
The main difference between 2D and 3D laser engraving is the depth and level of realism.

3D Engraving: Brings your image to life by adding depth. From the front it looks realistic, and when you rotate the crystal, a fascinating optical effect makes the figures seem to follow you with their eyes.
What material are they made of?
Our crystals are made from high-quality K9 optical crystal, chosen for its clarity, brilliance, and durability. This premium material lets light pass through beautifully, highlighting engraving details in both 2D and 3D. Its scratch-resistant surface helps your crystal keep its beauty over time.
How is a 2D photo transformed into a 3D crystal?
Our designers specialize in converting flat images and giving them the depth and realism required for a true 3D result.
Is the background removed before engraving?

3D crystals: We remove the background before creating the 3D model so the main subjects stand out.

2D crystals: We usually keep the background, but we’ll remove it if we think it will look better—or if you request it.
Can two photos be combined into one?
Yes. Our editing specialists can merge multiple images to your preference.
Can you remove a person from the photo?
Yes. We can remove a person—or add one.
My photo is low quality, old, or blurry. Can it be engraved?
Yes! We’ll enhance the image as much as possible so it looks great in the engraved crystal.
Can I use a black-and-white photo?
Yes. Whether you upload a color or black-and-white photo, the final result is always grayscale.
What image formats can I upload?
We accept most formats: JPG, JPEG, GIF, TIFF, BMP, and PNG. If your image is in a different format or you have trouble uploading, email us at info@silmur3d.es.
What are the LED bases like?
We offer square or round bases. The housing is plastic and the top surface is a thin mirror. You can choose fixed white light or color-changing light (the color version has no white mode, and the white version has no colors). The square base uses 3×AAA batteries; the round base uses 3×AA. They have a flat top for stability and a power switch.
Is the LED base included with the crystal?
No, the base is optional—though recommended for the best visual effect. Our crystals can stand on their own, but a lighted base makes the engraving pop.

Does the crystal size affect how many subjects can be included?
Any image can be engraved on any crystal size, but a small crystal with many people will look reduced. We recommend choosing a size appropriate to the number of subjects. The larger the engraving area, the better the result.
Can you engrave color images inside the crystal?
No. Laser engraving is different from printing: images are created by micro-points inside the material, which cannot include color. Currently, laser-engraved crystals cannot display full-color images.
